ALISON CONNEELY X UNFPA

Jahnavi Inniss - Not One More (as homage to Ni Una Menos)

In response to the earth rights, to protection of land and water.

In this sash of shifting sands, Jahnavi Inniss invokes the symbols of First Nations Cultures and the indigenous Métis people. We bear witness to legacies of colonial violence, and the continuing exploitation of the earth and violent assaults on indigenous women. A colour story rooted in landscape is presented - red for the blood of battle; blue for eternal spirit; green for fertility; white connects to the earth and yellow protects. Women resist, defend and protect. A future is summoned, of sovereign bodies in sovereign lands.
